Dr. Sudha Ragunathan

Padmabhushan Awardee, Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Kalaimamani

Universally admired for her soulful voice and mastery of Carnatic music, Dr. Sudha Ragunathan stands among India’s most accomplished and respected classical vocalists. A foremost disciple (vaarisu) of Padmabhushan Dr. M. L. Vasanthakumari, she is celebrated for her authentic kritis, refined raagam alapanas and effortless kalpana swaras. Her music radiates both technical brilliance and deep devotion, making her one of the most sought-after artistes across generations.

Recipient of the Padmabhushan, Sangeetha Kalanidhi and Kalaimamani awards, Dr. Sudha has performed on prestigious stages worldwide and released over 200 albums with leading labels such as AVM, INRECO, Vani and Amutham. She is a top-ranking artist for Prasar Bharati, All India Radio and Doordarshan, and had the honour of rendering Vande Mataram at the Central Hall of Parliament, New Delhi, marking fifty years of the Indian Republic.

Dr. Sudha’s family shares a multi-generational bond with Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, whose divine touch has guided every chapter of her life. Bhagawan personally performed her annaprashna (first-feeding ceremony), bestowed upon her the name ‘Geeta Sudha’, and even composed the devotional song ‘Sai Baba Geeta Sudha’ for her.

In 1958, during a return journey from Puttaparthi, the infant Geeta Sudha was miraculously revived by Bhagawan Himself, who appeared in the sacred form of Jodi Adipalli Somappa – a divine name later revealed to be one of the 108 names in the Sri Sathya Sai Ashtottara Shata Namavali. This leela remains an enduring testament to His boundless compassion and omnipresence. She has had the blessing of performing in the Divine Presence of Bhagawan several times in Prasanthi Nilayam, including during multiple Ladies’ Day Celebrations.

Guided by her mother Smt. Choodamani, Vidwan Sri B. V. Lakshman and later by her Guru Dr. M. L. Vasanthakumari, Sudha also excelled academically, receiving the Outstanding Student award at Ethiraj College for three consecutive years. Her dedication extends beyond music through the Samudhaaya Foundation (est. 1999) which supports education, healthcare, disaster relief and palliative care initiatives.

As she offers her music once more at the Divine Lotus Feet during the Centennial Birthday Celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Dr. Sudha Ragunathan’s life stands as a symphony of devotion, excellence and selfless service, blessed by the very Lord who gave her life, name and song.

Ms. Karthika Vaidyanathan

Karthika Vaidyanathan is a gifted Carnatic vocalist, playback singer and music educator from Chennai whose artistry bridges tradition and contemporary expression. The daughter of the late Sri T. R. Vaidyanathan (an eminent mridangam artiste) and Smt. Meena Vaidyanathan (a respected music teacher), Karthika grew up surrounded by rhythm and melody.

A devoted disciple of Smt. Bombay Jayashri Ramnath, Karthika has inherited her guru’s hallmark sensitivity, poise and depth of expression. She is an A-grade artiste of All India Radio and her music is distinguished by its classical precision, emotive clarity and meditative quality. Beyond the classical stage, Karthika has also made her mark in Indian cinema. Her rendition of ‘Kangal Edho’ from the Tamil film Chithha earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer – Tamil in 2024.

In 2020, she founded Swarakshara, her own music institute dedicated to nurturing students of all ages through traditional training blended with modern pedagogy. Through Swarakshara, she continues the musical legacy of her family, empowering the next generation to experience the joy of learning and performing Carnatic music.

An ardent devotee of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Karthika had the blessed opportunity to offer her music at Prasanthi Nilayam in October 2021, during the Vijaya Dashami celebrations following the seven-day Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yagnam and Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha. For her, music has always been an act of surrender – a form of worship that unites discipline, devotion and divine inspiration.

With her grounding in tradition, versatility across genres and dedication to both teaching and service, Karthika Vaidyanathan continues to inspire as a voice that uplifts and unites. She is a true example of how music becomes prayer at the Divine Lotus Feet.

Mr Sai Vignesh Ramakrishnan

Sri Sai Vignesh Ramakrishnan is a multifaceted Carnatic vocalist, composer and performer with over two decades of rigorous training in Indian classical music. He began his musical journey under Smt. Lakshmi Ananthakrishnan and continues his advanced tutelage under Cuddalore Sri T. R. Vasudevan, whose guidance has refined his artistry and depth of expression.

An A-grade artiste of All India Radio (AIR) and an empanelled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India, Sri Sai Vignesh holds a Master’s Degree in Indian Music from the University of Madras. His performances are marked by vocal precision, creative imagination and a deep devotional essence.

He has been honoured with awards such as the Valayapetti Kashyap Award and the Sangeeta Nakshatra Award. He has also performed extensively across India and abroad. As co-founder of ‘Gandiva’, an innovative classical-contemporary fusion ensemble, he explores the meeting point of music, movement and tradition.

While deeply rooted in Carnatic music, Sai Vignesh’s versatility extends into Indian cinema. His rendition of the song ‘Varaha Roopam’ from the acclaimed film Kantara brought him widespread recognition and prestigious awards such as the Filmfare Aware for Best Playback Singer – Male in 2023, earning him global appreciation for his soulful voice.

A proud Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas alumnus, he had the blessed opportunity to sing in the immediate Divine Presence of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in 2010 during the Tamil New Year Day celebrations at Prasanthi Nilayam. He was also conferred the Bal Vikas Excellence Award in 2021.

Ms Pragathi Guruprasad

Pragathi Guruprasad is an acclaimed playback singer and performer celebrated for her soulful voice and genre-crossing artistry. Her music blends the precision of Indian classical training with a contemporary sound that bridges cultures and generations.

Born in Singapore and raised in California, Pragathi grew up in a family deeply rooted in Carnatic music. She began learning under her father Guruprasad, himself a music teacher, and later trained with Smt. Sangeetha Swaminathan, a disciple of Padmabhushan Dr. Sudha Ragunathan. From an early age, her musical gifts were recognised in Sai bhajans, where she first sang with heartfelt devotion – an experience that continues to guide her artistic journey.

Pragathi rose to national fame as the runner-up of Airtel Super Singer Junior 3 in 2012 and has since sung for numerous Tamil films, toured internationally and released independent originals that blend Carnatic and Western influences. Her rendition of ‘Yayum Ngayum’ for composer Rajan Somasundaram’s Sandham: Symphony Meets Classical Tamil earned global acclaim when the album featured in Amazon’s Top 10 International Music Albums. She also appeared in Netflix’s ‘Never Have I Ever’, showcasing her versatility on international platforms.

For Pragathi, music remains a form of devotion. It is a bridge between tradition and modernity. Having begun her journey offering bhajans at the Divine Lotus Feet, she now brings her voice, grace and heartfelt artistry to the Centennial Birthday Celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, where her music once again becomes an offering of love and gratitude.
